The Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art of the Midland Center for the Arts is working in conjunction with Governor’s Residence Artist’s Program to assist the Governor in putting together a body of artwork to embellish the Governor’s Residence in Lansing.
I submitted four works for consideration, and just found out yesterday, two of the pieces have been considered for inclusion in the project. That means these two photos (Serenity and DH Day Farm) have to this point, have cleared two phases of a three-phase jury to be included in the final exhibition.
The first jury was conducted by a team of jurors at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art. Then, those works selected from the first round were organized in a Power Point presentation for the Residence Selection Committee to make a second selection.
At this point, I now must take the actual framed pieces to the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art in Midland next week, where the staff of the museum will load and transport the all the works to the Governor’s residence. The third and final selection of works will be completed by the First Family themselves. The First Family will make their final selections July 28 th and the works will be installed July 28 and 29, 2008. An opening reception will be held in Fall of 2008 and all participating artists will receive an invitation to attend.
Selected works will be on exhibit in the Governor’s residence from August 2008 through July of 2009.
Come on everyone – send your “good luck” vibes this way – I’d like to get invited to the reception!

Congratulations. My well wishes are going your way.
Wishing you all the best and that they recognize your talent!!
