And The Winner Is…

Pure Michigan Photo ContestKent Miller of Bay City, Michigan has been awarded the Grand Prize in the Pure Michigan Photography Pros’ Competition. He was one of ten photographers from across the nation that competed for a $5000 cash prize by photographing in specific designated locations across the state. Kent photographed the Flint area.

I’d like to congratulate Kent and the other photographers for their terrific portfolios of final images.

The purpose of this photography competition was to capture stunning travel and scenic images of Michigan to promote, support and drive tourism in the State of Michigan and to further enhance the Pure Michigan tourism campaign. A wonderful book with all of our images will be coming out approximately February of 2010.

Of course, I’d be fibbing if I didn’t admit some serious disappointment too.  Apparently, I came in second place alongside Drew Smith who photographed Benzie County. I was told my scores were very high – and only just barely missed a win. The judges are very respected photographic professionals, so I am honored.

I’m guessing – it must be exactly how an Olympic silver medalist feels. So close, and yet so far.

Enjoy the final thirty images I provided – and help cheer me on in an even bigger competition, ArtPrize in Grand Rapids!
