Derek Maxfield has won a multitude of awards for his ice sculpting skills. So many – it’s best just to visit his ArtPrize page to review them all!
For ArtPrize 2009, he is creating a three-dimensional sculpture with a main focal point being a of a stylized tiger shark swimming through its habitat. The bio-degradable art will be illuminated with colored lighting.
Derek will also be doing live ice sculpting shows daily. His exhibit will take over a month to create all the fine detail, ice paintings, and delicate features rarely seen in an ice sculpture.
Derek’s unique attraction will be set up in a freezer truck parked in front of the Gerald R. Ford Museum. The sculpture will be viewed at the rear of the truck through a window.
