Immanuel Lutheran Church has double the amount of artists from the 2009 event – thirty in total!

Tonight (Friday, September 24th) will be the public reception, from 6-8pm. I strongly encourage you to come up and see the exhibits from artists from Michigan, other states, and other countries from around the world!

When visiting my display at Immanuel Lutheran Church, you are strongly encouraged to pick up a copy of Great Lakes United’s Green Book. The book offers many useful suggestions on how you can take action to protect our freshwater resources.

Naturally, the pieces will not be shipped / delivered until the exhibit is over and removed (after October 10, 2010). If you are interested in purchasing a piece – email sales@stacyn.com or call 616-550-8107.

I look forward to partnering with Immanuel Lutheran during ArtPrize. The Church graciously granted me permission to use an interesting glass block wall area to display my exhibit. I chose the area on a whim (as it wasn’t initially designated as a display area) while touring the church. The glass wall caught my eye, as it is shaped like a “wave” and had the reflective qualities of water. It will serve as an excellent background to my Great Lakes images.

Tomorrow (Friday, September 10) I will be adding some blue material as a background from the interior portion of the glass. This should help unify the display and give it a resemblance of lake water.

I wanted to take a moment and share a good article about the students who were traveling on board the S/V Denis Sullivan at the time of my voyage: http://www.mtu.edu/news/stories/2010/july/story29133.html

It was a great mix of folks on the ship – 11 students, regular crew, volunteer crew and student interns – each about as diverse in their experience, backgrounds and sailing experience as the very ecosystems we were exploring!

A very small portion of Lake Erie also touches Michigan… but due to scheduling restrictions, it just wasn’t possible to get over and photograph in that region prior to ArtPrize.  The major “crunch time” has begun, since ArtPrize now is only a month away. There are so many images to review and decisions as to which ones will end up being enlarged for exhibit must be made quickly.
