Officially – my venue is Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Hill area of Grand Rapids.
It’s the large, beautiful Gothic church located at the corner of Michigan and Division – next to VanAndel Institute. Most anyone coming into Grand Rapids can see the church high on the hill, now in the shadows of the buildings coming up in the Medical Mile district. The present sanctuary was dedicated in 1890.
At the time of this blog post – there were about 20 artists being hosted at Immanuel. The number of entries you could enjoy here during ArtPrize 2010 may even be greater by July 1 – when all venue/artist connections must be complete.
I look forward to partnering with Immanuel Lutheran during ArtPrize. The Church graciously granted me permission to use an interesting glass block wall area to display my exhibit. I chose the area on a whim while visiting the church. The glass wall caught my eye during a tour, as it is shaped like a “wave” and had the reflective qualities of water. It will serve as an excellent background to my Great Lakes images.
Click on the blueprint below to see in larger detail – the curved yellow line indicates where you’ll find my exhibit starting September 22, 2010.
This is my first solid mock-up of my installation for SanChez. It was set up in 1:18 of the scale of the wall, which is 36″ in length. The images are 36×24, 20×30 or 18×24 in size.
If you click on the image below, you can see it even larger – just know that it you’ll end up having to scroll “sideways” to take it all in!
