Lake Michigan at Holland State Park
Over the past few months, I’ve really enjoyed giving photo presentations to various organizations such as Audubon chapters, wine dinners and outdoor enthusiast groups. I’d like to share a very nice letter I received this week from my last presentation in Grattan Township, Michigan at a wild game dinner event for a local sportsman’s club:

Healing Images - A Selection from the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion
What a thrill! My first published book “Healing Images – A Selection from the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion” – arrived yesterday!
And within a day, the “Pure Michigan – Spring Scenic Places” book arrived as well. I have approximately 12 pages in this book (along with a cover photo), created with images captured during the Pure Michigan Pro Photo Contest.

What a very exciting moment for me! The “Healing Images” ook – from the initial concept – to its layout (which I did myself) – to its final creation – has been approximately a two-year project. It brings me much joy to know the books will touch those who need some peace and serenity in their lives.

After a month-long entry period, followed by a preliminary voting round that featured 7 groups of 21 photos each (147 photos), which was followed by a 1-week FINAL VOTING ROUND…
… I was pleased to learn today my photo of the Grand Haven pier in winter was a winner in the PhotographyCorner.com 2009 Photograph of the Year Contest.
My image was the 5th Runner-Up (6th Place) in the competition. Apparently, some very cool prizes such as software and gift certificates for photo finishing and online photo storage are coming my way! How fun!
